UMass Lowell Women's Lacrosse Head Coach
Lisa Miller has announced the addition of Ava Vasile as assistant coach ahead of the 2025 season. Vasile recently completed a successful collegiate playing tenure as a five-year starter for the Vermont women's lacrosse program.
Â
"We are so excited to have Ava join the River Hawk program," said Miller. "It was clear from her interview that she wants to coach and has been actively evaluating practice planning, game strategy, lifting programs, and daily nutrition and care. She knows what it takes to be a successful student-athlete in the America East and will bring a very competitive mentality to practice every day."
Â
During her time at Vermont, Vasile started in 68 of the 70 games she appeared in, totaling 219 goals and 269 points, both ranking first in Catamount history. During her junior season, she posted one of the greatest seasons in program history, scoring a Catamount record 63 goals alongside 16 assists, helping push her squad to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth.
Â
"I'm so thrilled to be joining the River Hawks," commented Vasile. "It's been a blast playing against them, and now I'm excited to experience what it's like to work alongside them. I feel incredibly fortunate to learn from and work with the renowned Coach
Lisa Miller, who has been recognized as Coach of the Year. I'm joining the team at a pivotal moment, as their program is on the rise, and I'm eager to be a part of this promising journey."
Â
Vasile earned her master's degree in physical activity and wellness science from the University of Vermont in 2024 and graduated with her bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2023.
