Biography
ABOUT AMAYAH: A eight-year old from Chelmsford, Mass., Amayah Brown is a member of the UMass Lowell volleyball team. Brown was drafted by the River Hawks in the winter of 2016. Amayah was diagnosed at birth with a connective tissue disease. Amayah's disease is like a piece of a chromosome is missing, which triggers seizures and cardiac complications. Amayah is non-verbal, but is beginning to learn to use an IPad to communicate. She does use a walker and/or wheelchair to get around, but can walk short distances if someone holds her hand. Amayah likes people very much and although she doesn't talk, she connects very well with people. With all that Amayah has battled through, she truly epitomizes what it means to be a fighter and is sure to be an inspiration to all of her teammates.
