O[apos]NEIL ON VALENTE: [quote]Jen is a very smart basketball player who sees the court. She can also put it on the floor. She makes for a tough matchup because she can play both the three and the four.[quote] AS A SENIOR: Named captain along with teammate Krissy Little. AS A JUNIOR: Played in all 27 games for the River Hawks, making 20 starts on the year • Averaged 28 minutes per game • Tallied a season-high 22 points in an 84-79 loss at St. Rose • Dished a season-best three assists on three occasions • Season-high in steals was also three, in a 62-58 loss to Franklin Pierce • Converted 49-63 free throws (.778) • Scored in double-digits 16 times on the year. AS A SOPHOMORE: Played in 23 games with four starts • Emerged as a force in UML[apos]s final six games with averages of 11.2 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting .522 from the field (24-46) • Season-highs include 18 points in a 59-57 victory over American International; nine rebounds (seven offensive) in a 72-66 triumph at Southern Connecticut; and six assists in a 60-51 loss to Bryant. AS A FRESHMAN: Saw action in 14 games (one start), averaging 9.3 minutes per game • Season-highs include 10 points and five rebounds in a 67-57 win over Post University in the Valley Cup Classic first round • Named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll once. WOODLAND HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year standout at Woodland Regional H.S. for coach Jen Jackson • First team all-state standout • Earned all-scholastic honors by the New Haven Register and Hartford Courant • Amassed 1,157 points and 716 rebounds in three seasons • First 1,000-point scorer in WRHS history • Conference Most Valuable Player as a senior • Two-time all-conference standout • Conference scoring champion as a senior with 21.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game • Also played for Connecticut Starters club team • Helped Connecticut Starters advance to national club tournament • Top 100 all-star and most valuable player in 2005 • Honor student each quarter • Involved in Math and Peer Advocacy clubs.
