CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Graduate student
Graham Stedfast (Rowley, Mass.) broke the 800m school record, as a group of UMass Lowell student-athletes competed at the Battle Road Twilight Series Meet at MIT on Saturday evening.
Stedfast was one of two River Hawks in the 800m and zoomed to a 1:48.47 time to finish in fourth place with the school record. Senior
Basit Iddriss (Milford, Mass.) was just behind him, claiming seventh with a 1:51.20 mark.
In the 100m dash, both junior
Evan Imasogie (Lowell, Mass.) and sophomore
Michael Gyimah (Kumasi Ghana) qualified for finals with personal records of 10.59 and 10.62. In the finals, Gyimah led the way in sixth place with a 10.78 mark, before Imasogie finished just after in seventh place with a time of 10.81.
Next was the 400m hurdles, and senior
Alejandro Lynch (Somerville, Mass.) was the lone River Hawk, winning the race with a personal-best 53.21 mark to close out the track events.
The discus throw was the only field event with UMass Lowell competitors, and it was freshman
Reznor Rokicki (Loveland, Ohio) that earned win out of six throwers with a personal-best 53.16m toss. Graduate student
Ian Camerato (Mount Laurel, N.J.) was not far behind, reaching 50.16m for a personal record of his own. Freshman Kenneth Kalvinek (Sutton, Mass.) rounded out the meet for the River Hawks with a fourth-place finish and 43.58m mark.
