BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's indoor track and field team sent a group of runners to compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University Saturday.
The 800m run kicked it off, and junior
Emily Burdick (Billerica, Mass.) led the four River Hawk runners, finishing in 97
th place out of 187 with a time of 2:18.09. Junior
Katharine Cottone (Little Falls, N.J.) was next in 11
th place with a personal-best time of 2:18.78, while senior
Raihana Yameogo (Dillsburg, Pa.) was not far behind in 113
th place, earning a 2:18.85 mark. Junior Julie Condon rounded out the UMass Lowell runners with a 154
th-place finish and 2:22.22 mark.
Sophomore
Salma Boukhtam (Quincy, Mass.) was the lone River Hawk in the 1,000m run, claiming 40
th place with a 3:01.14 mark. The one mile run followed that up, as senior
Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) led a group of five River Hawks with a 163
rd-place finish out of 233 with a time of 5:05.57. Freshman
Anna Fondakowski was next in 205
th, earning a personal-best time of 5:12.96. Senior
Kylie Marion (Baldwinville, Mass.) was not far behind, claiming 209
th place with a 5:13.34 mark, before freshman
Krista Bettez (Gardner, Mass.) finished in 226
th with a 5:22.09 mark and graduate student
Delaney Swanson (Swanzey, N.H.) took 233
rd with a 5:36.01 mark to finish off the day for the squad.
"It was a solid day overall," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "Katharine ran excellent in the 800m and it was a nice breakthrough for her. Anna ran a huge personal best which should help her in the longer distances."
The River Hawks will now look forward to competing in the 2026 America East Indoor Championships next weekend on Friday and Saturday, February 20 and 21 at Boston university.
