WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team traveled to West Hartford, Conn., on Saturday morning for the Hartford Invitational.

"Good step forward today for quite a few people," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "The women's group was mainly new team members and middle distance runners. It was a really solid start for Gracie. Emily, Kat, Selena and Brenna are ahead of last year which bodes well for now and the track season."

Leading the pack, freshman Gracie Richard crossed the line in 10th place with a mark of 11:34.7. Junior Emily Burdick (Billerica, Mass.) was just behind, earning 16th place at a time of 11:50.3, before junior Katharine Cottone (Little Falls, N.J.) claimed 18th place at an 11:59.2 mark and sophomore Selena Wood (Abington, Mass.) earned 19th place at 12:00.0.

Following behind, freshman Sabrina Vitale finished in 26th place, clocking in at 12:17.5, while freshman Addyson Hunt (12:20.1) and sophomore Brenna Corcoran (Haverhill, Mass.) (12:21.5) earned 28th and 29th place.

Graduate student Kaitlyn Stevens (Oxford, Mass.) claimed 35th place with a mark of 12:29.1, before freshman Grace Brackett (12:39.5) and sophomore Haley Evans (Glastonbury, Conn.) (12:46.2) finished in 42nd and 45th place, respectively.

Sophomore Isabel McIntrye (Dover, N.H.) (13:07.8) and sophomore Alyssa Fiorino (Billerica, Mass.) (13:24.6) rounded off the River Hawk runners in 50th and 62nd place, respectively.

The team returns on Saturday, September 20, when they gear up for the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
