BOSTON – After keeping a clean sheet in each of his first two career appearances, freshman
Alvaro Medrano (Guatemala City, Guatemala) has been named the America East Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday morning.
In Thursday's match against Houston Christian, Medrano made his first collegiate start, playing nine saves in 90 minutes of action, posting a shutout in the 1-0 win over the Huskies. Later in the week, the freshman followed that performance up with another shutout, making two saves in the start against the University of the Incarnate Word, helping his team earn a point in the 0-0 draw.
