BOSTON – Senior
Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.) of the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team has been tabbed the America East Women's Lacrosse Spring Scholar-Athlete, as announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.
Scholar-Athlete winners have displayed excellence both academically and athletically throughout their careers. This year, UMass Lowell is one of four America East schools across six sports to have a student-athlete earn the distinction for the spring term.
In her four years as a River Hawk, Catlin proved to be a tremendous leader both in the classroom and on the field. Boasting a 3.77 GPA as a Political Science major, Catlin was named to the Dean's List every semester, was twice named to the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll, and was named to the 2025 America East All-Academic Team. On the field, she proved to be one of the best to ever wear a UMass Lowell uniform, smashing the records for career goals (141), points (183), and single-season goals (51). Beyond being an offensive powerhouse, she also tallied 88 ground balls, 48 caused turnovers, and 183 draw controls throughout her illustrious career, all top 10 rankings in program history. The 2025 America East Attacker of the Year and a member of the 2024 and 2025 America East All-Conference First Team, Catlin played a pivotal role in helping the River Hawks reach the America East playoffs for the first time ever in both her junior and senior seasons.
The Scholar-Athletes were members of teams in the six championship sports which America East sponsored in the spring season, including men's and women's indoor track and field, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, and softball. Nominees were put forward by their institution, which could nominate up to one student-athlete per sport, then voted upon by the conference's Student-Athlete Engagement committee. Each America East Scholar-Athlete was a projected starter or prominent reserve and carries a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50.
