CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's and women's track and field team hit the road for the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday evening, collecting some great marks.

"Overall, it was a nice group of performances today," said Head Coach Gary Gardner.

The women's 100m hurdles got it started, as graduate student Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) finished her career in a big way, earning a third-place performance in the prelims with a personal-best time of 13.82, before breaking that personal record in the finals with a 13.81 mark for second place overall.

"Ali Grasso capped off her career with a personal-best in the hurdles," added Gardner.

Next was the women's 1,500m run, where junior Kylie Marion (Baldwinville, Mass.) finished in 16th place with a time of 4:55.65. The men were next, and it was junior Sean Kennedy-Wonneberger (East Haddam, Conn.) that led the way in seventh with a time of 3:49.71. Freshman Jamie Lano (Strafford, N.H.) finished in 18th with a 3:59.08 mark to round off the River Hawks' 1,500m runners.

Sophomore Jayani Santos (Tewksbury, Mass.) found success in the 400m, claiming third place with a time of 55.94 as the lone River Hawk.

Senior Graham Stedfast (Rowley, Mass.) was the only UMass Lowell runner in the men's 800m, as he continued his great season with a second-place performance and a time of 1:48.85.

"Graham is on a roll with another sub 1:50 in the 800m," said Gardner.

In the 400m hurdles, junior Alejandro Lynch (Somerville, Mass.) also finished in second place, crossing the finish line with a 54.23 mark.

The women's 5,000m closed out the running events, as junior Miana Caraballo (Mathuen, Mass.) won the event with a time of 18:09.56. Sophomore Emma Eagan (Danvers, Mass.) also competed, claiming third with a time of 18:33.23.

In the field events, junior Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished in second place in the pole vault, breaking his personal record with a 4.70m mark. He also competed in the javelin, where he claimed ninth place with a 55.68m mark.

"Derek continues an unreal season with another personal best in the pole vault," added Gardner.

In the women's high jump, senior Fleur Balogh De Galantha (Groton, Mass.) finished tied for fifth place, clearing 1.55m. For the men, it was senior Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) as the lone River Hawk, finishing in seventh with a 1.96m mark.
