HOOKSETT, N.H. – The UMass Lowell men's track and field team traveled to Southern New Hampshire University on Monday afternoon to compete in the Ed Daniels Invitational, following the postponement of the meet this past Saturday.
"It was great to have a meet with great weather," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "The performances definitely matched the weather."
The field events got it started for the River Hawks, and it was sophomore
Brandon Riley (Weymouth, Mass.) that got the win in the long jump, reaching 6.85m. Senior
Ben Ayotte (Salisbury, Mass.) was next, claiming 12
th place with a 5.91m mark. Freshman
Jack Shepherd was the lone River Hawk in the triple jump, winning it with a 13.64m mark.
In the discus, the River Hawks picked up another win from senior
Ian Camerato (Mount Laurel, N.J.), tossing a personal-best 46.00m. Freshman
Joaquin Baldonado (West Haven, Conn.) also competed, finishing 12
th with a 33.61m mark.
The River Hawks found success in the pole vault as well, as freshman
Sawyer O'Riorden earned the victory with a 4.10m mark, before senior
Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) claimed fourth with a 3.80m mark.
Freshman
Camren Allain (Carver, Mass.) and sophomore
Shane Exilhomme (Orlando, Fla.) finished back-to-back in second and third place in the high jump, earning marks of 1.93m and 1.88m, respectively. Junior
Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) also competed, claiming eighth with a 1.78m mark.
In the shot put, junior
Mukanya Kazadi (Woburn, Mass.) led the squad in second place with a personal-best 14.67m mark, while Camerato was just behind in third place with a 14.00m mark.

Ian Camerato had another personal best in the discus and a good day in the shot," said Gardner.
Moving on to the 100m, three River Hawks made the finals, and it was sophomore
Daniel Kennedy (Tolland, Conn.) that led the way in second with a 10.61 mark, just before freshman
Iyanuoluwapo Omisore (Lagos, Nigeria) crossed the line in 10.63 for third place. Graduate student
Aras Kaya (Winchester, Mass.) also competed and finished fifth with a time of 10.86.
In the 100m hurdles, junior
Tristan O'Riorden placed second with a time of 15.32, before sophomore
Nidlaire Olivier (Lowell, Mass.) claimed third with a time of 15.56. Next was the 400m, where junior
Brett Earle (Baldwinville, Mass.) led the way with a personal-best time of 49.27 for third place. Riley finished fifth with a 50.82 mark, while three River Hawks finished in order in seventh, eighth and ninth. Stelmach claimed seventh with a personal record of 51.09, Munroe picked up eighth-place honors with a time of 51.16 and freshman
Liam O'Keefe (Trumbull, Conn.) finished ninth with a personal-best 51.47 mark. Sophomore
Willem Eisl (Princeton, Mass.) then competed well in the 400m hurdles, claiming a personal-best time of 58.25 for third place.
The 4x100m relay was a success, as the team of Kennedy, sophomore
Evan Imasogie (Lowell, Mass.), freshman
Michael Gyimah (Kumasi, Ghana) and Kaya finished first with a time of 41.57.
The final running event was the 200m, and freshman
Dmitrius Shearrion (Taunton, Mass.) led the way in fourth with a time of 22.31, while freshman
Michael Fisher (Wallingford, Conn.) finished at 22.42 for sixth place. Freshman
Cyprian Ojatabu (Ojoto, Nigeria) claimed ninth place with a 22.72 mark to close out the day.
