BOSTON, Mass. – Members of both the UMass Lowell men's and women's indoor track and field team hit the city to compete in day three of the IC4A/ECAC Championships Sunday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
Â
Junior Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) was the lone competitor for the men, taking part in the men's pole vault to kick off the day. He shined, finishing in fifth place with a 4.55m mark to conclude his impressive indoor season.
"Derek continued his amazing year with another great performance in the pole vault," said Head Coach Gary Gardner.
Â
Next up was graduate student Rachel Thomas (Perry Hall, Md.) in the 800m finals, after she qualified yesterday in the preliminaries. She zoomed to a sixth-place finish with a time of 2:12.51.
"it was a great finish to the season for Rachel," said Gardner. "She was a bit tired yesterday, but looked much better today."
Â
Senior Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) then closed out the event as the lone River Hawk finisher in the women's 3,000m race, claiming the ninth spot with a season-best time of 9:53.88.
"Sarah continues her return to form with a great run in the 3,000m," said Gardner.
