River Hawks Prepped for Hosting Quinnipiac, Le Moyne

LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off a big bounce-back win, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (5-1) kicks off a three-game home stand, playing host to the Quinnipiac Bobcats (4-1) on Wednesday, March 5, before welcoming the Le Moyne Dolphins (1-3) to Cushing Field on Saturday, March 8.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Chloe Bowers (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) tallied a game-high four goals, as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (5-1) took down the Siena Saints (0-4), 11-9 in a defensive battle on Saturday afternoon. Bowers, who has recorded at least two goals in each match this season, was one of four River Hawks to score a goal. Also finishing with four points was junior Audra Hansen (Stamford, Ct.), who found the back of the net three times while adding an assist. Senior Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.) added a hat trick, while junior Macy Shultz (Adams, N.Y.) chipped in a goal. In net, sophomore Alexa Kuhn (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made eight saves in the victory.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Bowers paces the offense with 20 goals and 22 points, with Catlin only a point behind her off 18 goals and three assists. Sitting third, Hansen totals 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points, while freshman Georgia Ruscitti (Toronto, Ontario) has a team-best ten assists. Catlin also paces the squad with nine caused turnovers, tailed by junior Grace Lydon (Rowley, Mass.) and sophomore Allie Reading (Draper, Utah), who each total seven. Junior Rachel Stax (Milton, Ga.) has totaled 20 draw controls so far this season, and in net, Kuhn has made 56 saves, good for a .505 save percentage, in six games.

AMERICA EAST HONORS
Following impressive defensive performances in Week Three, Kuhn was named the America East Goaltender of the Week, and Reading was named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week. It's the second straight week the River Hawks have earned the two honors, as Kuhn was the Goaltender of the Week and Carter the Defensive Player of the Week in Week Two. After setting the program's career goals record with an impressive four-goal performance in the season opener win, Catlin was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week in Week One.

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC
The Bobcats enter the midweek matchup riding a two-game win streak, most recently taking down Monmouth 19-10. With four players recording double-digit goals, Quinnipiac's offense is led by Abby Wise, who tallies 11 assists and 23 points, both team highs. Although recording 11 goals, Mia Delmond has been a big piece of the team's defense, leading the way with eight caused turnovers and 12 ground balls. In net, Shannon Alden has started all five games, making 53 saves for a .541 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS
Le Moyne enters the week with a 1-3 record and will head to Lowell following a matchup against Canisius on Wednesday afternoon. With 21 goals as a team so far this season, the offense is led by senior Reagan McQuade, who has totaled four goals and an assist, including a hattrick in the most recent match against La Salle. In net, sophomore Amanda Manfredi has started all four games, making 42 saves.
 
MATCHUP HISTORY
UMass Lowell and Quinnipiac have faced each other six times, including each of the last three seasons. In those matches, the Bobcats have taken four of the six matches, but the River Hawks earned the win last season, 11-9, on the road. As for Le Moyne, Saturday will mark the first time the River Hawks have faced the Dolphins in program history.
