RALEIGH, N.C. – Three women from the UMass Lowell track and field team traveled to North Carolina State Friday afternoon to compete in day two of the Raleigh Relays.

"Great day for the women," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "Anytime you can go three for three in personal bests that's as good as it gets."

Graduate student Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) kicked it off in the 100m hurdles with a 15th-place performance out of 74 finishers, snagging a personal-best time of 14.12.

"Alli looked great for her first 100H this year," added Gardner.

Sophomore Jayani Santos (Tewksbury, Mass.) followed her up with a personal-best 55.50 mark in the 400m for 22nd place overall out of 113 total runners.

"Jayani ran aggressive right from the start so I knew she'd be fine," said Gardner about the sophomore.

Senior Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) concluded the day in the 5,000m run, taking home 130th place with a time of 17:10.21.

"Sarah ran really intelligently and won her section."

Five River Hawks will return for day three of the event tomorrow March 29.
