BOSTON, Mass. – A small group of UMass Lowell men's and women's track and field athletes traveled to Boston on Sunday to compete in the Last Chance Meet at the BU Track and Tennis Center.
"The week after conference is always a challenge," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "There are some good and some not-so-good performances. It is great to take one last shot for indoors."
The women's mile started it off, with junior
Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) leading the way with a 12
th place finish and 5:09.43 mark. Junior
Raihana Yameogo (Dillsburg, Pa.) finished directly behind Caraballo in 13
th with a time of 5:11.07. Junior
Kylie Marion (Baldwinville, Mass.) was not far behind, taking 15
th with a time of 5:14.55.
"The women in the mile did a nice job after running a bunch of races last week," added Gardner.
Graduate student
Jake Connolly (Weymouth, Mass.) was the lone competitor in the men's mile, which marked his final collegiate race. He claimed 39
th place with a time of 4:29.65.
Later on, freshman
Tyler Young (Marion, Mass.) kept it going for the men, competing in the 800m run. He finished with a personal-best time of 1:56.41 to earn 25
th place.
Next up was the women's 1,000m run, where freshman
Selena Wood (Abington, Mass.) ran well, taking sixth place and earning a personal-best time of 3:15.42.
The men's 3,000m run concluded the day for the River Hawks, and it was freshman
Isaac Henderson that represented. He claimed 22
nd place, running to a time of 8:33.14.
