RESULTS
BOSTON, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's indoor track and field team fought until the very end, finishing second overall at the 2025 America East Indoor Track and Field Championships at the BU Track and Tennis Center with 135.50 points.
UAlbany got the win with 170 points, while UMBC finished in third with a total of 116 points.
"I could not be prouder of how the team competed," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "The conference meet is all about competing and beating people, and I felt like we did that all weekend. We were just missing a few pieces, which hurt us overall."
The one mile run began the running events, as junior
Hatim Boukhtam (Abington, Mass.) earned fifth place, crossing the line at 4:09.50. Graduate student
Paul Neilan posted a sixth-place finish after crossing at 4:11.10. Graduate student Joseph Young (Dorchester, Mass.) competed as well, taking 12th at 4:20.89.
Sophomore
Nidlaire Olivier (Lowell, Mass.) hurdled his way into the top three in the 60m hurdles final, claiming third after finishing with a personal-best 8.23 mark, before junior
Tristan O'Riorden took fourth at a personal-best time of 8.39.
In the 400m dash final, freshman
Michael Fisher (Wallingford, Conn.) zoomed to a personal-best time of 48.18, earning fourth place. O'Riorden and sophomore
Anthony Massari (Dumont, N.J.) rounded out the River Hawks, with O'Riorden taking sixth at a personal-best time of 48.47 and Massari in seventh at 49.39.
Junior
Basit Iddriss (Milton, Mass.) earned third place in the 500m dash final, cross with a personal-best time of 1:03.87, with freshman
Gabriel Sisk (West Hartford, Conn.) claiming fifth with a personal-best time of 1:04.17.
The 60m dash final was next, as sophomore
Daniel Kennedy (Tolland, Conn.) posted a time of 6.96 for fifth place and sophomore
Evan Imasogie (Lowell, Mass.) finished just behind him in seventh place with a time of 6.96.
Senior
Graham Stedfast (Rowley, Mass.) was the lone runner for the River Hawks in the 800m run final, crossing the line at 1:50.01 for a personal-best and top three finish. Two runners followed him up in the 1,000m run, as senior
Andrew Benassi (Reading, Mass.) hit the podium with a third-place finish and personal-best time of 2:25.76 and Boukhtam claimed eighth place with a 2:28.07 mark.
Junior
Sean Kennedy-Wonneberger (East Haddam, Conn.) continued his stellar season with a gold medal in the 3,000m run, earning a time of 8:12.88, while freshman
Isaac Henderson joined him on the podium in third place with a personal-best time of 8:14.04. Senior William Benoit (Fairhaven, Mass.) was not far behind, finishing in sixth place with a time of 8:18.12. Graduate student
Hunter Marion (Templeton, Mass.) took 14
th with an 8:29.79 mark, before sophomore
Nicholas Marcotte (Hudson, N.H.) was just behind in 16
th place with a time of 8:31.09. Graduate student
Henry Farrington (Essex Junction, Vt.) hit a personal-best time of 8:36.18 for 21
st place, as junior
Nathanael Fondakowski (Pelham, N.H.) crossed in 24
th place with a time of 8:41.41. Freshman
Jack Courtney closed out the River Hawks runners with a 31
st-place finish and time of 8:44.86.
The 4x800 relay team of Stedfast, Benassi, Iddriss and Sisk claimed fourth place with a time of 7:38.86, just before the 4x400 team of O'Riorden, junior
Brett Earle (Baldwinville, Mass.), Massari and Fisher finished in sixth with a 3:15.60 mark to wrap up the running events.
Starting the fielding events was the high jump, where freshman
Camren Allain (Carver, Mass.) jumped to a 1.96m mark, claiming the third-place spot. Sophomore
Shane Exilhomme (Orlando, Fla.) finished in sixth place after a 1.91m mark.
In the shot put event, junior
Derek Munroe (Tewksbury, Mass.) tossed for a personal-best 14.23m mark, earning seventh place to lead the River Hawks. Juniors
Ian Camerato (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and
Mukanya Kazadi (Woburn, Mass.) finished back-to-back, as Camerato claimed 11th for a 13.37m mark, and Kazadi in 12th at a 13.30m mark.
Graudate student
Brandon Williams (Severn, Md.) led the River Hawks with a sixth-place performance in the triple jump, reaching 14.24m. Freshman
Jack Shepherd claimed 11
th with a 13.55m mark to conclude the field events.
The 60m hurdles kicked off day two of the heptathlon, where Munroe made his presence known, taking third place at a personal-best time of 8.79. Senior
Luke Stelmach (Sterling, Mass.) crossed at 9.05 for seventh place. Munroe then shined in the pole vault, tying for first with a 4.30m mark, while Stelmach claimed fifth, clearing 3.60m. Munroe won the heptathlon 1,000m race by more than a second, finishing with a personal-best time of 2:44.39. Stelmach finished in seventh with a time of 2:54.59.
Both Munroe and Stelmach earned their way to the podium in the heptathlon at the end of the day, as Munroe finished in second with a personal-best 5028 points, narrowly missing first place by 61 points. Stelmach picked up the bronze medal with a total of 4805 points.
