BOSTON, Mass – The UMass Lowell women's indoor track and field team competed in Day Two of the 2025 America East Indoor Championship on Sunday, finishing in sixth place as a team with 73 total points.
UAlbany got the win with 164 points, while Bryant was second with 141.50 and Binghamton claimed third with a total of 108.50 points.
"I could not be prouder of how we competed," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "The conference meet is all about competing and beating people. I felt like we did that all weekend."
The one mile run got the running events started for the River Hawks, and senior
Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) claimed seventh at 4:57.50. Senior
Vivian Mac (Randolph, Mass.) also competed in the event, running to a personal-best time of 5:25.37 for 28
th.
Graduate student
Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) was the lone hurdler for UMass Lowell in the 60m hurdles final, where she crossed at 8.77 for sixth place. In the 400m dash final, freshman
Amelia Stebe (Honolulu, Hawaii) was the only runner for the River Hawks, claiming eighth at 57.74.
Junior
Nia Mainer-Smith (Taunton, Mass.) sprinted her way into the top spot in the 500m dash final, earning first place and crossing the finish line with a personal-best time of 1:14.09 for a gold medal.
Another first place finish was posted from the River Hawks in the 800m final, where graduate student
Rachel Thomas (Perry Hall, Md.) finished at a personal-best 2:11.11 mark for first place. Sophomore
Emily Burdick (Billerica, Mass.) was next, finishing with a personal-best time of 2:17.27 for seventh, as freshman
Brenna Corcoran (Haverhill, Mass.) claimed 13th with a personal-best time of 2:20.30 and sophomore
Katharine Cottone (Little Falls, N.J.) finished in 14th with a personal-best 2:20.73 mark. Freshman
Isabel McIntyre (Dover, N.H.) closed it out with a 19
th-place performance with a time of 2:31.63.
In the 1,000m run, junior Raihana Yamoeogo (Dillsburg, Pa.) was the lone River Hawk, claiming 10
th with a time of 3:04.76. Sophomore
Jayani Santos (Tewksbury, Mass.) followed that up in a big way, winning the 200m dash with a personal-best time of 24.09 mark for a gold medal and 10 points for the team.
The 3,000m run was next, as graduate student
Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) claimed eighth to lead the way for the team with a time of 9:56.91. Eight other River Hawks competed in the 3,000m, and junior
Kylie Marion (Baldwinville, Mass.) finished in 16
th with a personal-best time of 10:17.18 before junior
Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) was just behind her in 17
th with a time of 10:17.35. Freshman
Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) claimed 21
st place with a time of 10:29.25, before freshman
Lauren Long (Lunenburg, Mass.) (24
th, 10:31.39) and senior
Delaney Swanson (Swanzey, N.H.) (25
th, 10:34.09). Sophomore

Burdick, Corcoran, Cottone and McIntyre teamed up for the 4x800 relay next, finishing in ninth with a time of 9:55.38. In the 4x400 relay, Junior
Danielle Thompson (Groton, Mass.), Mainer-Smith, Thomas and Santos finished in second place for a silver medal with a time of 3:48.35 to finish off the track events.
In the field events, Grasso shined in the triple jump with an 11.79m mark for third place to kick it off. Sophomore
Nethica Auguste (Bridgewater, Mass.) was next, finishing in 18
th place with a 11.03m mark before freshman
Anya Neira (Methuen, Mass.) set a personal record with a 10.69m for 21
st place.
In the high jump, senior Fleur Belogh De Galantha (Grafton, Mass.) jumped to a 1.65m mark for fourth place, before freshman
Avery Pitts (Willington, Conn.) took sixth with a 1.60m mark. The shot put was next to close out the field events, as Joyce Nabagereka set a personal record with a 12.15m for ninth place. Sophomore
Nhyira Nkansah (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished in 11
th place with a personal-best mark of 12.10m.
