River Hawks Take on Princeton Fall Classic on Friday Morning

PRINCETON, N.J. – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team competed well in the 6k event on Friday morning at the Princeton Fall Classic.

"The women continue to grow," said Head Coach Gary Gardner

Leading the charge for the River Hawks, graduate student Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) finished past the line at 21:16.6, earning 66th place, with sophomore Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) not far behind, claiming 92nd place after crossing at a 21:35.4 mark.

"Sarah and Georgia might have had their best races ever," said Gardner.

Senior Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) (152nd, 22:07.7), freshman Anna Fondakowski (167th, 22:23.1), and freshman Gracie Richard (Weymouth, Mass.) (179th, 22:29.6) were next up for the River Hawks to cross the line, respectively. 

"Anna and Gracie continue to grow as athletes and are really fun to watch," said Gardner. 

Also competing in the 6k race, sophomore Lauren Long (Lunenburg, Mass.) (192nd, 22:36.0) was followed by freshman Krista Bettez (Gardner, Mass.) (201st, 22:41.4), respectively.

Senior Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.), graduate student Delaney Swanson (Swanzey, N.H.), sophomore Salma Boukhtam (Quincy, Mass.), sophomore Selena Wood (Abington, Mass.), freshman Brooke Nedeau, junior Lena Takahashi (Holden, Mass.), and freshman Addyson Hunt (Wilmington, Mass.) ran in the 6k event as well. 

The team prepares for the CCSU Mini Meet, happening next Friday, October 24, at Central Connecticut State.
