LOWELL, Mass. – After productive weekends at the Suffolk Relays, sophomore Jayani Santos (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Avery Pitts (Willington, Conn.) of the UMass Lowell women's track and field team have been named America East Female Track Athlete of the Week and Female Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. 

Santos earned the honors after finishing first in the 400m dash and collecting a time of 56.64. Later in the day, Pitts took part in the high jump, finding success and claiming fifth place with a 1.63m leap. This marks both athletes' first career America East Weekly Awards.
