BOSTON – Fifteen UMass Lowell student-athletes have been named America East Presidential Scholar-Athletes, one of the conference's highest honors, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
This award recognizes all student-athletes who graduated with a 3.75 GPA or higher from their respective institutions after having attended a minimum of two years.
Tyler Andersen-Parrado (Weehawken, N.J.), Maxwell Davis (Stoneham, Mass.), Adam Katerji (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Michael Makiej (Andover, Mass.), Hunter Marion (Templeton, Mass.), and Robert Townsend (Ashland, Mass.) of the men's cross country/track and field program, Wonuola Ashaju (Lagos, Nigeria), Delani Dorsey (Haverhill, Mass.), Alexandria Grasso (North Reading, Mass.) and Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) of the women's cross country/track and field program, men's soccer's Loucas Costeas (Nicosia, Cyprus) and Milan Rosic (Burlingame, Calif.), women's soccer's Calliste Brookshire (Kingston, Mass.), field hockey's Mirthe Gans (Tiel, Netherlands), and women's lacrosse player Rylee Kelly (Harwood, Md.) were this year's recipients representing the River Hawks.
The Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award was approved by the America East Board of Presidents in June of 2013 and implemented for 2013-14 academic year. In total, 968 student-athletes have been honored as part of the program.
