LOWELL, Mass. – Following a battle against UMBC, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (8-3, 0-2 AE) host Boston University (4-6) on Wednesday, April 3, before returning to conference play when they battle New Hampshire (2-8, 0-2 AE) on the road on Saturday, April 6.

LAST TIME OUT
Junior Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.) scored three goals, as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (8-3, 0-2 AE) fell in the final minutes to the UMBC Retrievers (7-4, 2-1 AE), 14-12, on Saturday afternoon. Catlin, one of six goal scorers for the River Hawks, tallied her career-high sixth hat trick of the season. Joining her, freshman Chloe Bowers (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) also contributed three goals while senior Megan Brockbank (Bayport, N.Y.) and sophomore Audra Hansen (Stamford, Ct.) each found the back of the net twice. Sophomore Grace Lydon (Rowley, Mass.) and freshman Jillian Goldie (Owen Sound, Ontario) chipped in with one goal each. In net, freshman Alexa Kuhn (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made 12 saves.

HITTING THE ROAD
Earlier this season, the River Hawks embarked on a season-long six-game road trip, that lasted over a month. During the road trip, UMass Lowell posted a 4-2 record and recorded double-digit goals in all but one match. Though the trip was highlighted by a 21-2 victory over Gardner-Webb, the River Hawks also nearly pulled off an upset victory over #23 Brown, falling 15-14 in the final minutes.

GONE STREAKING
With the victory over Presbyterian, the River Hawks tallied their eighth straight win, setting the program record for most wins in a row and most wins in a season.

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS
Anchored by multiple seasoned veterans, UMass Lowell's defense has been a key part of the team's success thus far. Through the first 11 games, the defensive unit ranks 18th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only 9.36 goals per game, propelling the River Hawks to the 20th-best scoring margin in the country (+5.00). Meanwhile, the team also tallies 9.91 caused turnovers per game, good for the 17th most in Division I, while Kuhn ranks 21st amongst all goalkeepers with only 9.60 goals allowed per game.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Bowers paces the squad with 34 goals and 38 points and adds 19 draw controls after the first 11 games, while Brockbank totals a team-high 12 assists. Right behind Bowers, Catlin has tallied 27 goals, including a program-record eight against Winthrop, and ranks second on her team with 15 ground balls. On defense, graduate student Julia Napolitano (Oakdale, N.Y.) posts a team-best 17 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers, including a season-high four in the win over LIU. In net, all four goalkeepers have seen time, with Kuhn leading the River Hawks with 73 saves in 493 minutes, good for a 6-3 record.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT
The freshmen have left their mark early on UMass Lowell, as Bowers has been named America East Rookie of the Week four times, Goldie has earned the honor twice, while Kuhn was tabbed the America East Defensive Player of the Week twice. In the season opener, Bowers had a record-setting day, scoring five goals and totaling six points, both program records for a player in their collegiate debut. In the second week of the season, Goldie exploded for seven goals and four assists, including five goals and two assists against Merrimack, to help propel her team to a 2-0 week. Meanwhile, Kuhn was stellar in her first two starts, making nine saves against Stonehill and 16 against Quinnipiac to help lead her team to a 2-0 week.

SCOUTING BOSTON UNIVERSITY
The Terriers come to Lowell amid a six-game losing streak, most recently falling to Lafayette, 10-9, in double overtime. Attack Hannah Tillier leads the Terriers with 27 points, while Elle Stevenson sits right behind her with 25 points, including a team-high 21 goals. On defense, Ellen Monahan leads her squad with 30 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers, while also adding 33 draw controls. In net, freshman Natalie Aiosa has appeared in 10 games, including nine starts, allowing 152 goals while making 84 saves, good for a .356 save percentage.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats welcome UMass Lowell to Durham following a 19-8 loss to Dartmouth, their seventh straight. Led by graduate student Katie Taranto, who totals 22 goals for 26 points, the New Hampshire offense features four double-digit goal scorers. On defense, Ava Schroeder owns a team-high 20 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers. In net, Maria Hagan has played every minute, allowing 149 goals alongside 86 saves, good for a .366 save percentage.

A WIN WOULD
A win against Boston University would mark the second straight win over the Terriers and would extend the program record for most wins in a season. If the River Hawks followed up with a win over the Wildcats, it would mark the first win this season in conference play, as well as the second win over New Hampshire in program history.
