LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off another perfect week, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (5-0) heads south to battle the Winthrop Eagles (0-3) on Sunday, March 3 at Eagle Field in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

Chloe Bowers (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) scored a game-high five goals to help mount a fourth-quarter comeback as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (5-0) took down the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 11-9, on Saturday afternoon. Bowers paces the squad with 16 goals and 19 points after the first two weeks, while Brockbank and Goldie total a team-best five assists. Catlin, who is tied for third on the team with 11 goals, leads the team with nine ground balls and adds 12 draw controls. On defense, senior
Julia Napolitano (Oakdale, N.Y.) posts a team-best nine caused turnovers, including a season-high four in the win over LIU. In net, all four goalkeepers have seen time, with Kuhn pacing the River Hawks with 30 saves in just shy of 150 minutes. With 75 minutes of action, sophomore
Hannah Shaddock (Corning, N.Y.) has made five saves on her way to a 2-0 record.
IMMEDIATE IMPACT
The freshmen have left their mark early on UMass Lowell, as Bowers has been tabbed America East Rookie of the Week twice, while Goldie has earned the honor once in the first three weeks. In the season opener, Bowers had a record-setting day, scoring five goals and totaling six points, both of which were program records for a player in their collegiate debut. She followed two weeks later with a seven-point performance (5g, 2a) against Quinnipiac, including scoring the game-winning goal. In the second week of the season, Goldie exploded for seven goals and four assists, including five goals and two assists against Merrimack, to help propel her team to a 2-0 week.
SCOUTING WINTHROP
The Eagles enter Sunday's game with an 0-3 record, most recently falling to Queens (N.Y.), 13-8, on Wednesday evening. Leading Winthrop's offense is midfielder Lexi Johnson, who totals five goals on the season, including a four-goal performance her last time out. Freshman Madison Mayer has made an impact all over the field early, posting six ground balls, one caused turnover and nine draw controls. In net, sophomore Emma Calhoun has allowed 50 goals in just under 150 minutes of playtime, while making 21 saves, good for a .296 save percentage.
