LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off a win in their season opener, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (1-0) will welcome the Merrimack Warriors (0-1) to Cushing Field for the home opener before heading to New York to take on the LIU Sharks (0-1) on Saturday morning for the first time in program history.

LAST TIME OUT
UMass Lowell enters the week with a 1-0 record after taking down Sacred Heart, 15-7, in the season opener on Sunday afternoon. Leading the River Hawks was freshman Chloe Bowers (Whitefish Bay, Wis.), who tallied five goals and an assist in her collegiate debut. Behind her, junior Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.) totaled four goals and an assist, marking her eighth straight game with at least one goal. Freshman Jillian Goldie (Owen Sound, Ontario) also shined in her first career game, contributing three goals on four shots. Junior Megan Milkowich (Watertown, N.Y.), and sophomores Grace Lydon (Rowley, Mass.) and Audra Hansen (Stamford, Conn.) rounded out the goal scorers with one each. In net, sophomore Hannah Shaddock (Corning, N.Y.) earned the start, making four saves in three quarters, while junior Kendall Whalen (Belmont, Mass.) made four saves in the fourth quarter.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Bowers paces the squad with five goals after the first match, while freshman Bronwyn Hilbert (Lancaster, Pa.) totals a team-best two assists. Lydon, who is currently tied with Catlin with a team-high three ground balls, also boats seven draw controls and three caused turnovers to lead the River Hawks. In net, both Shaddock and Whalen total four saves, with Shaddock playing 45 of the 60 minutes.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT
In the season opener, Bowers had a record-setting day, scoring five goals and totaling six points, both of which were program records for a player in their collegiate debut. For her efforts, the Wisconsin native was also named the America East Rookie of the Week, marking only the fifth River Hawk to receive that honor.

SCOUTING MERRIMACK
The Warriors enter Wednesday's game with a 0-1 record following a 17-6 loss to Boston University. Midfielder Samantha Spieler was all over the box score, finishing with two goals, one assist, four ground balls, and a draw control. Right behind her, Sophie Scearbo and Natalie Calkins both chipped in with two goals to round out the goal scorers for Merrimack. In net, freshman Zoe Inglis made 13 saves and allowed 17 goals in 60 minutes.

SCOUTING LIU
The Sharks will welcome UMass Lowell to town following a 13-5 loss to Hofstra in the team's season opener. Midfielder Julia Trainor led her squad with two points off one goal and an assist while totaling two ground balls and a team-high seven draw controls. In net, Lily Bilello made six saves in the start, while Mylie Norton made two saves in nearly 20 minutes of action.

A WIN WOULD
A win against Merrimack would move the River Hawks to 2-0 for the first time in program history while also moving the program to 4-0 all-time against the Warriors. If the team followed up with a victory over LIU, it would be the first win over the Sharks in program history.

MATCHUP HISTORY
The River Hawks and Warriors have matched up three times, with UMass Lowell holding a 3-0 record, including a 13-7 victory last season. UMass Lowell and LIU, however, will be facing off for the first time on Saturday.
