LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell Athletics showed its gratitude to its supporters at its annual United In Blue Appreciation Night on Friday, November 22.
"Anytime we can get together with our donors, head coaches and student-athletes, it is a special event," said Eric Allen. "These folks are more than supporters; they are like family. Without them, we would not be able to accomplish all we that do and we enjoy celebrating our successes with them."
The sold-out event welcomed donors to the Talon Club at the Tsongas Center prior to the River Hawk hockey team's game against UConn. Guests were able to enjoy a buffet, door prizes and mingling with UMass Lowell Athletics coaches and staff. The event was highlighted by a speaking program that included remarks from Athletic Director Lynn Coutts, Eric Allen, Head Cross Country/Track & Field Coach Gary Gardner, and graduate student javelin thrower James Kotowski, who competed in the Olympic Trials this past summer.
An invitation to the United In Blue Appreciation Night was offered to all members of the department's United In Blue Fund, which is a key component to the success of UMass Lowell's Division I Athletics. It provides a way for alumni, donors, families and friends to partner with coaches and student-athletes to provide the necessary resources to succeed through scholarships, facility upgrades and academic and athletic support. By contributing to the United in Blue Fund, donors invest in over 450 student-athletes and 16 Division I sports.
