HOPKINTON, N.H. — The River Hawk women's cross country team hosted the NCAA DI Cross Country Northeast Regional Friday afternoon at Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Hopkinton, N.H., finishing 19th as a squad.
After taking first place in the women's 5k at the 2024 America East Cross Country Championship, Junior Mary-Kate Finn (Nashua, N.H.) offers a noteworthy performance as she finished in 23rd place to helping the River Hawks to thier nineteenth-place finish in the women's 6k. Finn crossed the line with a time of 20:27.71, which would gain her All-Region honors for finishing within the top 25.
"MK put herself right in the front group the entire race," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "The last 1,500 meters were a little tough but as always, she competed well."
The second River Hawk to finish was senior Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.), coming in 101st place with a 21:46.42 mark. Graduate student Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) was next, finishing with a time of 22:00.18 at 118th place with junior Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) near, placing in 138th at a time of 22:12.91.
"Sarah, Mary and Miana did a nice job and grinded the entire way," added Gardner.
Junior Raihana Yameogo (Dillsburg, Pa.) flowed with the bunch placing in 180th place at a time of 22:54.82, as freshman Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) was not far behind with a time of 23:06.63, taking 197th. Rounding out the River Hawks in 237th place was junior Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.) crossing the line at 23:37.43.
