LOWELL, Mass. – Junior
Mary-Kate Finn (Nashua, N.H.) claimed 23rd place in the women's gold 6k to lead the UMass Lowell women's cross country team at the Paul Short Run Saturday morning at Lehigh.
"The women ran well as a team, but individually, I don't think anyone was close to maxing out their ability," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "We are pleased for today but we know things will get better from here."Â Â
Finn crossed the finish line with a time of 20:38.1, while graduate student
Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) was the second River Hawk to cross, taking 135th place with a 21:42.6 mark. Senior
Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) was next, finishing in 172nd place with a time of 21:55.8 and junior
Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) took 208th at 22:11.0.Â
In 242nd place was graduate student
Rachel Thomas (Perry Hall, Md.) with a 22:28.6 mark, as freshman
Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) followed in 314th with a time of 23:20.9. Junior
Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.) (342nd, 2350.4), sophomore
Emma Eagan (Danvers, Mass.) (358th, 24:40.0) and freshman
Raihana Yameogo (360th, 24:54.7) rounded out the River Hawk runners in the gold 6k.Â
Three runners competed in the open women's 6k, as senior
Delaney Swanson (Swanzey, N.H.) led the way with an 185th-place finish and time of 24:09.6. Sophomore
Lena Takahashi (Holden, Mass.) was next to cross the finish line, taking 222nd at 24:32.6, before freshman
Lauren Long (Lunenburg, Mass.) claimed 247th with a time of 24:51.5.Â
The River Hawks will now move on to compete in the Bruce Kirsch Invitational next Friday, October 11 in Hopkinton, N.H.
