LOWELL, Mass. – Graduate student
Alissia de Vries (The Hague, Netherlands) totaled three points to lead a large scoring contingent for the UMass Lowell field hockey team (8-6) in a 5-1 victory against Dartmouth (3-10) on Sunday.
The Senior and Alumni Day decision improves the team's home unbeaten streak this year to 7-0 so far in 2024.
"I'm really happy with the team effort today," said Head Coach
Shannon LeBlanc. "We had a tough one on Friday and for them to come back today and really take care of the details, play together as a unit and put five balls in, I was just really impressed."
Seven different River Hawks tallied points in the outing, including senior
Jillian Loebs (Acton, Mass.), who registered her first career goal. Graduate student
Lisa Hagel (Driehaus, Netherlands) also picked up her first goal as a River Hawk, while senior

Four minutes later, the River Hawks struck again on a corner, this time with Van Havere receiving the insert on the wing from Gerrits before firing a blazing sweep into the back of the cage, giving the home team a 2-0 edge at the end of the first quarter.
UMass Lowell continued to hold onto the ball throughout the second quarter, outshooting the visitors, 3-0. Van Havere had another strong attempt on a corner, but this time it was kicked away by the Big Green's Ava Carlson. Leeper also put a chance into the keeper's pads, keeping the 2-0 difference heading into the break.
Dartmouth came out of halftime on the offensive, as Olivia Galiotos tested Oliemans in the 31

The River Hawks then fought off two Big Green corners before capitalizing on a set piece of their own in the 40

The visitors took three more chances in the third quarter, including a shot by Ally Brosie in the 43
rd minute that forced Oliemans to make a diving stop.
UMass Lowell then added two insurance goals in the fourth, as Loebs knocked in her first career tally on a rebound in the 51
st minute and Leeper followed with a graceful, diving tip on a pass from Gan in the 57
th minute to give the home side a 5-0 buffer.
Although Dartmouth was able to get one back in the 59
