LOWELL, Mass. — The River Hawk women's cross country team traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to compete in the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals.
Showing signs of her durability, junior Mary-Kate Finn (Nashua, N.H.) soared her way into the top 10 leading the way for the River Hawks. Finn crossed the line with a time of 20:49.0, ultimately finishing in 10th-place in the women's 6k. UMass Lowell would finish in 22nd place at the 2024 Wisconsin Pre-Nationals.
"The women handled the competition really well. MK had a really good day as did Mary and Sarah," said Head Coach Gary Gardner. "This is the toughest meet they have run in a few years so them running well is really encouraging."
Flowing behind, graduate student Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) finished in 81st-place with a 21:55.1 mark while senior Sarah Ross (Agawam, Mass.) followed in 107th-place with a time of 22:15.7.
7 runners total competed in the women's 6k, junior Miana Caraballo (Methuen, Mass.) (158th, 22:59.4), graduate student Hannah Doherty (Billerica, Mass.) (174th, 23:19.5), junior Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.) (193rd, 24:11.8) and freshman Georgia Brooks (Groton, Mass.) (199th, 24:25.0) all stayed attached towards the end of the 6k.
The River Hawks will look to run in the CCSU Mini Meet next Friday, October 25 in New Britain, Conn.
