LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell baseball team hosted its tenth annual Hot Stove Dinner on Saturday, February 4 at Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut, Massachusetts.
With 25 alumni in attendance, this year's event generated $50,000 in revenue. Proceeds from the event benefited the River Hawk baseball program and the 2022 Shedd Park Little League Cooperstown Team.
"The Hot Stove Dinner is a great night for the community. We reflect on the previous season by handing out our awards and we introduce this year's version of River Hawk Baseball," said head coach
Ken Harring. "We also recognize Shedd Park Little League and their upcoming season. The silent and live auctions are a big hit and we had live music by Derek and his brother-in-law Keith Gatewood, who go by Bus 14, that added some entertainment to our cocktail hour."
Derek Luccini and Keith Gatewood, family members of sophomore
Alex Luccini, performed live music and live and silent auctions wrapped up another successful Hot Stove Dinner with plenty of River Hawk friends, family and alumni in attendance.
This year's event saw five River Hawks earn team awards for the 2022 season.
Gerry Siracusa was named the Jim Stone Player of the Year and
Joshua Becker was named the Jack Leathersich Pitcher of the Year.
Jacob Humphrey earned the Jon Cahill Rookie of the Year and
Matt DeBenedetto was the recipient of the Bob Bushong Unsung Hero award. Wrapping up the awards was
Brandon Fish, the recipient of the Adam Keenan Sportsmanship Award.
UMass Lowell begins the 2023 campaign on Friday, February 17 with a three-game weekend series at #23 South Carolina at Founders Park in Columbia, S.C.
