ORONO, Maine – The UMass Lowell women's cross country team ran a hard-fought race at the America East Championships on Friday morning at the Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono, finishing in third place as a team with 81 points.
Â
Binghamton came out victorious, scoring 69 points and winning their first conference championship since becoming a member of the America East in 2001, while Vermont collected second place with 77 points. On the men's side of things, the River Hawks came out on top for their fourth straight title.
"We knew with both teams this year, we were redshirting a bunch of kids, so we knew it was going to be a good cast of people out there and they competed really hard today," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "I was really proud. They competed hard, so we're proud of both teams."
