LOWELL, Mass. – The athletics office has announced the hiring of new Athletic Academic Coordinator, Benjamin Geier, who will join the staff in Student-Athlete Services.
With six years of experience working within athletics, Geier has been active in the mentoring and supervision of athletes at several institutions. He received his bachelor's degree in Human Communications at the University of Central Florida and earned his master's in Higher Education Administration from Stony Brook in the spring of 2022.
During his time as an undergraduate student, Geier interned with the Athletic Communications staff at UCF and worked as a Research Assistant at the Nicholson School of Communication. There, he assisted in studies directed toward human interaction and collected data to better understand systems that accurately depict human behavior.
Geier also worked as an instructor at F.A.S.T Athletics LLC. and went on to be an Academic Success Coach at Stony Brook during his postgraduate studies. While supervising 40 student-athletes across men's lacrosse and track and field, as well as women's swim, volleyball and softball, he helped to monitor their academic progress. Geier would schedule meetings with the students to advise them on their academic studies and regularly gave feedback to the coaching staff on the status of their players.
