River Hawks Face Brown In Final Game of Season

LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off a hard-fought loss, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (4-12, 1-5 AE) will wrap up their season on Tuesday night against the Brown Bears (6-7, 3-3 Ivy) at Cushing Field.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks went to battle with UAlbany for the final conference game of the season, falling to the Great Danes, 14-8. Junior Molly Shaw (Marshfield, Mass.) led the team in goals with a hat trick, while four players added in an assist.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Shaw leads the River Hawks with 31 goals over 16 games, with junior Izzy Liquori (Agawam, Mass.) right behind her with 29 goals. Sophomore Megan Brockbank's (Bayport, N.Y.) 11 goals and 15 assists put her third on the team with 26 points. Junior Layton Nass (Manhasset, N.Y.) paces the defense with 19 caused turnovers, and graduate student Alex Salim's (East Islip, N.Y.) 119 saves lead the team.
 
THREE IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Throughout 15 games this season, eight different River Hawks have recorded a hat trick. Shaw leads the way with six total hat tricks, while sophomore Kaitlin Tobin (Southold, N.Y), freshman Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.), and freshman Sophia Scialdone (Syracuse, N.Y.) have all recorded their first career three-goal games this season.

SCOUTING THE BROWN BEARS
The Brown Bears come to Lowell after a 12-11 victory over conference opponent Cornell. Leading the way on offense for Brown is midfielder Mia Mascone, who has a team-high 30 goals and 42 points. Right behind her is attack Claire Jeschke, who has a team-high 19 assists and ranks second with 39 points. In net, Erin Tucker has started all 13 games, totaling 109 saves and a .418 save percentage on 362 shots faced.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win against Brown would be the fifth of the year for the River Hawks, and their fourth in non-conference play.
 
BROWN MATCHUP HISTORY
Brown and UMass Lowell have faced off three times, with the Brown Bears taking each matchup. The last time they played was in the 2017 season when the River Hawks fell 12-6 on the road.
