River Hawks Host UMBC on Saturday

LOWELL, Mass. – Coming off a hard fought loss, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (2-8, 0-2 AE) will open up the month of April as they take on the UMBC Retrievers (6-4, 0-0 AE) on Saturday afternoon.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Junior Molly Shaw (Marshfield, Mass.) tallied her third hat trick of the year, while sophomore Megan Brockbank had a team high four points off a goal and three assists. Junior Izzy Liquori (Agawam, Mass.) added in two goals, and sophomore Kaitlin Tobin (Southold, N.Y.) rounded out the scoring for UMass Lowell with her second goal of the season. The River Hawks had a strong defensive performance, led by junior Layton Nass (Manhasset, N.Y.), who had three caused turnovers, and graduate student Alex Salim (East Islip, N.Y.), who had 12 saves in net.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Liquori and Shaw both have 20 goals, leading the River Hawks through ten games. Emily Stratton's (Camillus, N.Y.) 14 goals and five assists put her third on the team with 19 points. Nass leads the defense with 16 caused turnovers and Salim's (East Islip, N.Y.) 53 saves lead the team. On the draw, Liquori's 43 draw control victories pace the team, with freshman Jade Catlin (Middletown, Md.) right behind her with 41 on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
UMBC come to Lowell after falling to #20 Johns Hopkins, 17-6. Leading the way on offense is attack Claire Bockstire who leads the conference with 41 goals and 54 total points. Right behind her is attack Dymin Gerow who has totaled 34 goals and eight assists for 42 points. Although the Retrievers have two goalies who have both seen time in net, Lexi Roberts has played a majority of the time, tallying 80 saves and a .516 save percentage in over 380 minutes of action.
 
A WIN WOULD
A win would give head coach Lisa Miller her 200th career win, as well as get the River Hawks their first conference win of the season.

MATCHUP HISTORY
The River Hawks and Retrievers have faced off six times, with the Retrievers winning each matchup. The last time out, the River Hawks fell 16-11, despite a strong first half performance.
