River Hawks Announce 2023 Schedule

12/19/2022 2:00:00 PM

LOWELL, Mass. – UMass Lowell Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Lisa Miller has announced her team's official, 17-game schedule for the 2023 season.

"This is my first time as the River Hawk coach that we have had four classes represent the University in competition," said Miller. "It has been a long time coming and we are excited to attack the schedule with a team that has experienced leadership. Our senior class has played the majority of minutes since their freshman year, while also adding depth and new young talent. We're feeling optimistic and expectations have been raised. We're excited for the season."

For the first time in four years, the River Hawks will open the season on the road when they take on Kennedy Cup rival Massachusetts on February 11. Following the season opener, UMass Lowell will head to North Andover to take on Merrimack (Feb. 15) before hosting Patriot League opponent Holy Cross (Feb. 19) in the home opener. The River Hawks will wrap up February with a quick trip to take on Stonehill (Feb. 22), followed by a home matchup against Sacred Heart (Feb. 25).

UMass Lowell opens March with a home matchup against Quinnipiac (March 1), their only game against a MAAC opponent. The River Hawks will then fly south for spring break as they take on ASUN conference members Stetson (March 4) and Jacksonville (March 8). Following a week off, UMass Lowell will kick off conference play at home against New Hampshire (March 18) before closing out the month on the road against America East's newest member Bryant (March 25).

In the final month of the regular season, the River Hawks will return home to take on Albany (April 1) followed by a short trip to take on Boston University (April 5). UMass Lowell will then return home for tilts against Hartford (April 8) and Dartmouth (April 11).

To round out the regular season, UMass Lowell hosts one of their final three games. After a trip to Baltimore to take on UMBC (April 15), the River Hawks will return home one last time for a clash against Binghamton (April 22). The squad will then finish off the regular season on April 29 at Vermont.

The top four teams will qualify for the 2023 America East playoffs, with the semifinals set for Thursday, May 4.  The championship matchup will follow on Saturday, May 6. All rounds will be played at the regular season champion.
