BOSTON, Mass. – UMass Lowell field hockey freshman goalkeeper
Eleonore Boekhorst (Bilthoven, Netherlands) has been named America East Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Boekhorst totaled 21 saves in a 1-1 week for the River Hawks. She now ranks second in the country in saves per game with 7.09.
The Bilthoven, Netherlands native registered a career-high 15 saves, while allowing just one goal in the River Hawks' 2-1, shootout victory at Vermont on March 31.
This marks the third weekly award for the freshman already this season after previously garnering Defensive Player and Rookie of the Week accolades.
Boekhorst, who has started all nine games in the cage for the River Hawks, leads the America East with an .857 save percentage and totals three shutouts this year.
