BOSTON – UMass Lowell field hockey goalkeeper
Eleonore Boekhorst (Bilthoven, The Netherlands) was named the America East Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
Boekhorst worked hard in the cage for UMass Lowell, making 11 saves in what was a 1-1 week for the River Hawks.
The goalkeeper made a career-high seven saves in Tuesday's shootout thriller against UC Davis. Boekhorst played all 80 minutes and then stopped four of the Aggies' five attempts in the shootout to clinch the win.
On Friday afternoon, the River Hawks traveled to Monmouth, where Boekhorst made four stops to hold the Hawks' offense to just one goal.
The freshman becomes the first River Hawk to win two AE field hockey weekly awards this season, earning a Defensive Player of the Week nod after notching her first career shutout against Bryant.
