NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Ten different River Hawks tallied a goal to help lead the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (1-1) to its first victory of the season over Central Connecticut (0-2) on Sunday afternoon at Arute Field.

Lisa Miller. "I was pleased with our composure, ability to adjust at half and with the overall progress we made throughout the game. This year is all about positively handling last minute disruptions and adapting on the fly. We were mentally prepared for both today."

Freshman attackerÂ
Megan Brockbank (Bayport, N.Y.) totaled a career-high seven points and a career-high five assists on the afternoon.

Sophomore
Molly Shaw recorded her first collegiate goal, and then some, finishing the game with six points on five goals.

The River Hawks exploded for 11 goals in the second half, including seven-straight over the first 15 minutes. Junior
Samantha Blair (West Islip, N.Y.) grabbed her first hat-trick of the season, while
Hana Caster (North Attleboro, Mass.),
Katie Welch (North Reading, Mass.),
Anna Bauter (Dexter, N.Y.) and
Emily Stratton (Camillus, N.Y.) all tallied two goals on the day. Â

UMass Lowell owned a 10-8 lead at halftime, thanks to Shaw securing the hat trick in the final 30 seconds.

Morgan Sinton led the Blue Devils with four goals, while senior Molly Coogan and freshman Eliz Fino each added three goals and an assist.

Freshmen
Jillian Schumacher (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) and
Mackenzie Brown (Southington, Conn.) split their time again in net. Schumacher made four saves in the first half, while Brown closed out with six. Cooper Cowdin stopped 10 shots in the losing effort for CCSU.

Caster amassed 14 draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers to pace the defensive end for Lowell.

The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 6th when they face their first conference opponent on the road, taking on the Bearcats in Vestal, N.Y.
