BOSTON-Â The UMass Lowell women's cross-country team ran through the rain to a seventh-place finish overall in the NCAA Northeast Regional at Franklin Park Friday afternoon.

Each scoring runner ousted their personal best on the course, with three River Hawks—graduate students
Emily Sessa (Tewksbury, Mass.),
Kaley Richards (Lowell, Mass.) and
Jenna Solimine (Haverhill, Mass.—placing inside the top 35 in the 6k race.

"The women had a solid day," said Head Coach
Gary Gardner. "Jenna ran outstanding, and we finished where we were ranked which is always a success."

Sessa crossed the line with the best performance on the squad, posting a time of 21:13 to earn 21st overall. Registering a 5:42 pace, the veteran distance runner toppled her previous personal best by 16 seconds this afternoon.

Just 15 seconds off Sessa's time, Richards crossed the line in 29th with a time of 21:28. Her performance marked a new personal best and a 33-second improvement from her run at the Nuttcombe Invitational on October 15. Solimine also shredded her previous personal record of 22:45 with an impressive 21:31 finish to take 32nd.

Senior
Izzy Giesing (Bradford, Vt.) put in an impressive showing as well. The fourth River Hawk across the tape finished 59th in the overall standings, logging a time of 21:57. Rounding out the scoring runners for UMass Lowell, junior MacKenzie Doyle (Swansea, Mass.) completed the course in 22:15 to place in the top-100.

The River Hawks now await potential selections for next weekend's NCAA Championship in Tallahassee, Fla.
