LOWELL, Mass. - UMass Lowell Director of Athletics
Peter Casey has announced the launch of the department's United in Blue, United as One fundraising campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise $150,000 for the athletics department and its more than 400 student-athletes during the month of November, and thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, the River Hawks are already halfway to that financial goal.
Â
The $150,000 fundraising goal was selected to honor the River Hawks' outstanding work in the classroom. Despite the unprecedented circumstances, UMass Lowell student-athletes have now achieved 15 consecutive semesters of a combined, departmental grade-point-average over 3.0.Â
Â
"Our student-athletes have demonstrated incredible flexibility and resiliency since the start of the pandemic," Casey said. "We are committed to providing the resources necessary for all of our student-athletes to be successful, and we are offering our supporters the opportunity to assist us with providing that support."
Â
The United in Blue, United as One campaign will run now through November 30. All funds generated with directly assist River Hawk student-athletes, as they prepare to return to competition in the coming weeks and months. This campaign will also help ensure that all of our student-athletes continue to receive access to scholarships, academic support services, nutritional experts, mental health professionals and more throughout these challenging times.
Â
Any supporter who donates $100 or more will have the opportunity to upload a photo that will be turned into a cutout and will be placed in the Tsongas Center during the 2020-2021 hockey season. Throughout the season, fans will have their cutout image emailed to them, in addition to qualifying for a chance to win prizes during every home game.Â
Â
The campaign will also feature opportunities to unlock additional funds for our programs through generous match offers made available by River Hawk supporters. These matches will be unlocked as programs reach targets, with each program having an initial match of at least $2,500. Â
