Over 100 of UMass Lowell's top donors attended the event last Wednesday night

LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell athletic department hosted its annual United In Blue Fund Sunset Social event last Wednesday night at the Bellegarde Boathouse, along the Merrimack River.

The event, which celebrates its top donors over the course of the year, had over 100 River Hawk supporters in attendance for the dinner.

The Sunset Social including a speaking program, which included UMass Lowell Chancellor Jacquie Moloney, Director of Athletics Peter Casey, Hockey student-athlete Connor Sodergren and Women's Basketball Head Coach Tom Garrick.

"What a great setting and event to not only visit with alumni, business representatives and other members of the community that hold UMass Lowell and their athletic program in such high regard," said Hockey alum Craig Brown (Class of 2000). "It's also gratifying to connect with all the coaches and also hear Connor express such enthusiasm, as he represents all of us as a current River Hawk. It's a very easy program to get behind."

The United In Blue Fund is a key component to the success of UMass Lowell's Division I Athletics. It provides a way for our alumni, donors, families and friends to partner with our coaches and student-athletes to provide the necessary resources to succeed through scholarships, facility upgrades and academic and athletic support. The primary focus of the United In Blue Fund is to raise unrestricted funds that prepare student-athletes to become 21st century leaders. By contributing to the United In Blue Fund, you invest in over 400 student-athletes and 17 Division I sports. We are committed to providing a first-class collegiate experience for our players by providing them the resources they need to compete at the highest level and reach their academic potential - and your support does just that.
