LOWELL, Mass. – First-year UMass Lowell women's lacrosse head coach,
Lisa Miller, released a competitive 2020 schedule on Monday afternoon, featuring an even split of eight home games and eight road contests. The River Hawks will kick-off their season at home when they host Central Connecticut on Wednesday, February 12 at 3 p.m. at their new home, the Cushing Field Complex.
Â
"The team, in addition to learning new systems and skills, is working hard to establish player driven competitive cultural norms and chemistry on and off the field," stated Miller. "My personal expectations for the team will always be about working hard, constant improvement and treating others well; if we do these three things competitive successes will come."
Â
Following the home opener against the Blue Devils, the River Hawks' 16-game slate continues on the road when they take on Holy Cross (Feb. 16) and UConn (Feb. 21).
Â
For the first time since their inaugural season, the River Hawks will face in-state rival Massachusetts in a Kennedy Cup Challenge game on Monday, Feb. 24, before closing out the month of February with a home match against Bryant (Feb. 28). The Kennedy Cup Challenge was established in the fall of 2018 and will be awarded annually to the team with the most wins in the cumulative season series in all sports between the UMass Lowell and UMass Amherst.

Â
"In the early games we are looking to develop confidence through preparation and adaptability so we can handle the excitement and emotion of the conference games." commented Miller.
Â
The month of April opens with an away contest against Vermont (April. 1), following two home tilts with Hartford (April. 4) and UMBC (April. 11).
Â
The River Hawks close out the 2020 schedule with a trip to Durham, N.H. to face off against New Hampshire (April. 18), before returning home for their regular-season finale against Binghamton on Saturday, April. 25.Â
