CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team (5-7) fell, 4-0, at Ivy League opponent No. 14 Harvard (9-3) on Tuesday evening.

"We had a great team performance for three quarters against a top team in the country," said Head Coach Shannon Hlebichuk. "We lost focus for a few minutes in the fourth quarter which resulted in a couple of goals that took some wind out of our sails. We will look to enhance the things we did well tonight and improve on some areas to be prepared for UNH Friday."

Freshman Sofie Knook (Amsterdam, Netherlands) paced the River Hawks with three shots, while senior goalkeeper Eva Berkhout (Amersfoort, Utrecht, Netherlands) logged a season-high eight saves in the contest.

The first quarter was a scoreless battle that saw Harvard take a slight, 6-4 edge in shots.

The Crimson broke open the scoreless stalemate in the 26^th minute when the squad got the ball on the restart after a corner and Rachel Greenwood made the most of the opportunity, quickly turning and firing on cage. The home team continued to threaten in the waning minutes before the break, but Berkhout came up with two big save to keep the score at 1-0 heading into the half.

Harvard extended its margin with goals in the 47^th and 54^th minutes. The home team then added its final tally on a penalty stroke by Hannah Pearce.

Freshman Berbel Rozema (Rotterdam, Netherlands) sent a ball off the crossbar at the buzzer, but the Crimson would secure the shutout.

The River Hawks are back in action on Friday, October 18 when they visit America East opponent New Hampshire for a 6 p.m. tilt.
