LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team (5-5, 0-1 AE) gets back to America East Conference action this Friday, October 11, as the squad hosts Vermont under the lights at Wicked Blue Field beginning at 6:30 p.m.

RIVER HAWK REWIND
The River Hawks split a pair of games last week to move to 5-5 so far in 2019. The team first opened America East play on the road with a 1-0 setback at Maine on Oct. 4. UMass Lowell then bounced back with a 4-0 shutout in a non-conference tilt against Colgate on Oct. 6. Sophomore

SCOUTING VERMONT
The Catamounts are currently 4-6 overall with a 0-1 mark in America East games. Last week, Vermont dropped a closely-contested, 2-1 decision against No. 21 UAlbany on Oct. 4. Clodagh Ferry totals a team-best 10 points in 10 games. She is one of three Catamounts with four goals on the year, in addition to Bailey Matthews and Kate Hall. Sydney Melfi and Peppe Haantjes are tied for first on the squad with three assists apiece, as well. Goalkeeper Sierra Espeland boasts 50 stops so far in 2019 with a .704 save percentage.Â

SERIES HISTORY
Heading into Friday's contest, Vermont leads the all-time series against UMass Lowell, 13-6-1. The River Hawks won four straight against the Catamounts before UVM swept a two-game series last season.

A win on Friday would give the River Hawks their first America East win of the year, in addition to their first win against Vermont since 2017.

Jenna Berger matched a Division I single-game program record with three assists in the win against Colgate. She also leads the team with a total of five assists on the year.

For the first time in its Division I history, UMass Lowell cracked the top 20 in the NCAA RPI rankings for the week of Sept. 23.

The River Hawks' offense has been a true team effort this season, as 12 different River Hawks have already logged at least one point in 2019. That mark ties for the second-most point scorers in a season during the program's Division I era.

In order to prepare for their challenging conference schedule, the River Hawks played three nationally ranked opponents in their first four games this year.

For the sixth consecutive year, the River Hawks won their season opener with the Fairfield decision. That contest also marked the second straight season-opening shutout for
Eva Berkhout and the squad's back line.

Freshman
Kate Miller was named America East Rookie of the Week on Sept. 24 after tallying five points in the win against Sacred Heart. Classmate
Sofie Knook also earned a Rookie of the Week nod on Sept. 17 after propelling the River Hawks to victory against Ball State with a pair of goals. She was previously tabbed Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 3 following a successful collegiate debut that included a big defensive save in the 38th minute against Syracuse.
