LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell Athletic Department announced on Tuesday that its student-athletes earned a department-wide GPA of 3.19 in the 2018 fall semester, which ties a department record. The River Hawks have earned a combined department GPA above 3.0 in 12 straight semesters, including all 11 semesters since joining Division I in the fall of 2013.
Eleven of the 15 River Hawk teams posted a GPA above 3.0, and 21 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall semester.
"Our student-athletes continue to exemplify what it means to be a 'student-athlete,'" said
Alison Quandt Westgate, Associate Athletic Director for Academics & Student Services. "To have 21 student-athletes achieve 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester is unprecedented, and we could not be prouder."
A total of 268 student-athletes earned a GPA above 3.0 last semester. The fall semester also saw 10 student-athletes placed onto the America East All-Academic list.
The River Hawk women's cross country team paced all women's teams with a 3.67 GPA, while the hockey program earned the top men's team GPA at 3.65.
