River Hawks Battle at New Hampshire Before Hosting Hartford in AE Play

LOWELL, Mass. --
The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (3-6, 0-2) takes on two America East opponents this week when they travel to New Hampshire on Wednesday before returning to Wicked Blue Field to battle Hartford on Saturday. Netminder Renee Gonzalez (Long Valley, N.J.) picked up her first career win against CCSU with eight saves, while Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) stopped 10 shots against UMBC in the loss. Midfielder Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) tallied 10 points (4g, 6a) on the week to lead the team offensively.

A WIN WOULD...
A win against New Hampshire would give the River Hawks it's first win in the series history and their first win in conference play this season.

A win against Hartford would give the Mill City squad the first win in both program's first meeting.

LAST TIME OUT
UMass Lowell went 1-1 with an 11-6 win at CCSU for it's first road win of the season, but fell 9-7 in a hard fought battle against UMBC to move to 0-2 in America East play.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Finelli remains the leader on offense for the River Hawks with 39 points from 26 assists and 13 goals on the season, while Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) leads the squad with 22 goals. In total, 11 different players have scored a goal this season, eclipsing last season's mark of nine.

Barrett between the posts has accumulated 55 saves on the year for a .437 save percentage and a 10.61 goals-against average.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE (4-6, 2-0)
The Wildcats have opened conference play 2-0 with wins against UMBC and Hartford to improve their record to 4-6 on the season. Krissy Schafer leads teh team with 25 points from 25 goals, while Carly Wooters has tallied 23 points from 18 goals and five assists. In total, 12 Wildcats have tallied a goal this season. Kate Clancy has started in net every game this season for UNH. She has stopped 56 shots for a .412 save percentage and a 10.87 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY
The River Hawks and Wildcats meet for the third time in the sport of women's lacrosse. New Hampshire has been victorious every time, however, last season's contest was the closest game in the series - a 7-10 decision at Wicked Blue Field.

SCOUTING HARTFORD (1-7, 0-2)
The Hawks won their first game of the season against Delaware State, but is currently on a seven-game losing streak. They will host Stony Brook before they take on UMass Lowell. Billy McLaughlin leads the Hawks with 16 points from 10 goals and six assists, while Debbie Phillips follows with 13 points from eight goals and five assists. Nine different Hawks have scored so far this season. Cassidy Hock leads Hartford between the posts with 68 saves for a .354 save percentage and a 16.65 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the two schools in the sport of women's lacrosse. It is the Hawks first inaugural season.

BARRETT REACHES MILESTONE, EYES A SECOND
Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett stopped seven shots in the loss at Iona (3.8). Although the squad was unable to come away with their first win of the season, the four-year captain between the posts captured a different win. The South Burlington, Vt. native became the first player in program history to reach 500 saves in a career. She sits 66 away from 600, currently, and would need to average 9.4 saves per game over the final seven contests to reach the second milestone.

FINELLI'S STELLAR START
Junior Kendyl Finelli has tallied 39 points through 10 games this season. The midfielder has now surpassed her point total output from a season ago (24). The Southborough, Mass. native is on pace to tally a program record 66 points this season, which would be 32 more points than the current program record of 34 held by fellow teammate Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) after laKendyl Finellieakout year.

SCORING STREAK
Kendyl Finelli has tallied at least a point in every game this season to give her 10 game scoring streak, to increase the program record for longest scoring streak. Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) and Taylor Sokol (twice) have each tallied an eight game scoring streak iTaylor Sokolers.

GOING FOR GO(A)LD
Senior Taylor Sokol has led the team in goals for the entire season so far, tallying 22 goals through 10 games this season. The senior is now just four goals away from breaking the single-season, goal-scoring record of 25 set last season by teammate Rebecca Idson.

HATCH DOMINATES ON THE DRAW
One game after teammate Kelly Moran (Newfields, N.H.) tied the program record for draw controls in a game with six, Erin Hatch (Billerica, Mass.) came out victorious seven times on the draw to set a new program record. One game after Kendyl Finelli and Hana Caster (North Attleboro, MasTaylor Sokolp against Wagner (3.11) with each of them scoring a hat trick, Taylor Sokol, Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) and Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) each tallied a hat trick in the win over Sacred Heart (3.17). It marked the eighth time in program history that two or more River Hawks have scored hat tricks in the same game, with UMass Lowell holding a slight 5-3 edge in those contests.

SCORING DEPTH
Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored in the win over Sacred Heart (3.17) to extend the list of River Hawks to have scored a goal this season to 11, which is two more than the final total of last season.

REACHING DOUBLE DIGITS
The River Hawks have scored at least 10 goals in 13 games since 2015 and holds a 10-3 record in those games.

DEFENSE IS THE BEST OFFENSE
Six times in the opener against Boston University, the River Hawks were able to turn caused turnovers or ground balls directly into goals for the Mill City Squad. The team broke that season high with eight instances in its win over Sacred Heart. In total, through 10 games, the River Hawks have scored directly off a caused turnover or ground ball pickup 37 times - accounting for roughly 41-percent of their goals scored this season.

WILL YOU ACCEPT THIS ROSE?
Freshman Hannah Rose (Framingham, Mass.) was tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week (3.12) for her efforts in leading the squad to a 1-1 week. Rose led all River Hawk rookies with three caused turnovers, while also picking up three ground balls on the defensive end of the field. The midfielder helped the squad pick up its first win of the season against Wagner on Sunday afternoon after tallying two ground balls and a caused turnover.
