River Hawks Battle Binghamton on Senior Day

LOWELL, Mass. --
The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (4-10, 1-4) take on Binghamton on Saturday night at Wicked Blue Field. The contest will feature a pregame ceremony honoring the seven seniors of the Class of 2018.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks fell in against Harvard, 14-10, and on the road against UAlbany, 14-5, last week. Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) led all scorers with five goals and an assist.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Finelli remains the leader on offense for the River Hawks with 48 points from 33 assists and 15 goals on the season, while Sokol leads the squad with 30 goals. In total, 14 different players have scored a goal this season to set a new program record in a single season, eclipsing the 12 set in the 2016 season.
 
Barrett between the posts has accumulated 83 saves on the year for a .456 save percentage and a 10.80 goals-against average.
 
SCOUTING BINGHAMTON (6-8, 3-2)
The Bearcats are coming off a 15-7 loss against Cornell earlier this week. Brianne Arthur leads their squad in points and goals with 36 and 32, respectively. Jacqueline Kennedy has tallied 33 points from 25 goals and eight assists for second on the squad. In total, 18 different Bearcats have tallied a goal this season. In net, Taylor Passuello has tallied the most minutes for Binghamton and has tallied a 78 saves for a .464 save percentage and a 10.65 goals-against average.
 
SERIES HISTORY
UMass Lowell and Binghamton have met three times in program history. The Bearcats have been victorious each time, including a 12-6 victory last season.

THE SENIOR SEVEN
The 2018 campaign marks the first time the River Hawks will be graduating itís first four-year class in program history. Courtney Barrett, Kaylan DiModugno, Erin Hatch, Ashley Horan, Sheila Nolan, Taylor Sokol, and Austin Trasatti are all part of the first senior class to spend all four years with the River Hawk program.

LAMBERT MAKES TRIUMPHANT RETURN
With an 8-0 lead in the first half against Hartford (4.7), redshirt-sophomore Noelle Lambert returned to the action nearly 20 months after an accident left her sidelined recovering from an above-the-knee amputation to her left leg. The attacker registered three shots-on-goal, with her third chance resulting in a goal.
 
BARRETT REACHES MILESTONE, EYES A SECOND
Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett stopped seven shots in the loss at Iona (3.8). Although the squad was unable to come away with their first win of the season, the four-year captain between the posts captured a different win. The South Burlington, Vt. native became the first player in program history to reach 500 saves in a career. She sits 38 away from 600, currently, and would need to average 12.7 saves per game over the final nine contests to reach the second milestone.

FINELLI'S STELLAR START
With a career-high six points (2g, 4a) in the River Hawks win against CCSU (3.28), Kendyl Finelli registered her 35th point of the season, breaking Jane Dudley's 34 points set last season. The Southborough, Mass. native has now registered 48 points this season and with three games still remaining, the junior is on pace to register 58 points this season.
 
SCORING STREAK
Kendyl Finelli tallied two points against Harvard (4.11), giving her a scoring streak of 13 games before she failed to register a point against UAlbany (4.14). The 13 game scoring streak was the longest in program history.

GOING FOR GO(A)LD
Needing just one goal going into the squad's matchup against Harvard (4.11), Taylor Sokol captured the program record for most goals scored in a single season after scoring four in the contest. Sokol currently has 30 goals on the season with three games still to go.
 
SOKOL GRABS POINT NUMBER 100
In the loss to UAlbany (4.14), Taylor Sokol tallied an assist and a late goal to become the first player in program history to regisiter 100 career points.

HATCH DOMINATES ON THE DRAW
One game after teammate Kelly Moran (Newfields, N.H.) tied the program record for draw controls in a game with six, Erin Hatch (Billerica, Mass.) came out victorious seven times on the draw to set a new program record. The seven draw controls also catapulted her into the team lead, which currently stands at 30.
 
HAT TRICK PERFORMANCES
One game after Kendyl Finelli and Hana Caster teamed up against Wagner (3.11) with each of them scoring a hat trick,Taylor Sokol, Kristina Keith and Kaylan DiModugno each tallied a hat trick in the win over Sacred Heart (3.17). It marked the eighth time in program history that two or more River Hawks have scored hat tricks in the same game, with UMass Lowell holding a slight 5-3 edge in those contests.
 
SCORING DEPTH
Noelle Lambert (Londonderry, N.H.), Kyra Lowenberg (Amherst, N.H.) and Caitlin Sanborn (Chelmsford, Mass.) each scored their first goal of the season against Hartford to extend the number of River Hawks to score a goal this season to 14, which breaks the 2016 program record of 12.
 
REACHING DOUBLE DIGITS
The River Hawks have scored at least 10 goals in 15 games since 2015 and holds a 11-4 record in those games.
 
IMPRESSIVE HOME CROWD
After finishing third in the America East in average attendance last season with 272 attendees, 398 people saw the River Hawks battle it out against the Terriers in the opener; 156 more than the season average last season. Through eight home games of the season, the River Hawks are averaging 295 fans per game.
 
WILL YOU ACCEPT THIS ROSE?
Freshman Hannah Rose (Framingham, Mass.) was tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week (3.12) for her efforts in leading the squad to a 1-1 week. Rose led all River Hawk rookies with three caused turnovers, while also picking up three ground balls on the defensive end of the field. The midfielder helped the squad pick up its first win of the season against Wagner on Sunday afternoon after tallying two ground balls and a caused turnover.
