LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (2-6, 0-1) hits the road for a non-conference matchup against first-time opponent Central Connecticut before returning home to welcome America East foe UMBC to Wicked Blue Field.

A WIN WOULD…
A win against the Blue Devils would give the River Hawks their third win of the season and stop a two-game skid. A win would also give UMass Lowell a winning record over just its second opponent in history and an overall winning record against member institutions from the Northeast Conference.

A win against the Retrievers would be the first against UMBC, as well as the first conference win this season for the River Hawks. A win would be the second conference win for UMass Lowell, also.

LAST TIME OUT
The River Hawks fell at Bryant, 15-6, and against top-ranked Stony Brook, 20-7, last week. Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) recorded two hat tricks in the loss for seven goals on the week. Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) tallied eight points from seven assists and a goal to extend her scoring streak to eight games.

Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) and Renee Gonzalez (Long Valley, N.J.) combined in net to stop 13 shots between the two contests.

LEADING THE FLOCK
Finelli remains the leader on offense for the River Hawks with 29 points from 20 assists and nine goals on the season, while Sokol leads the squad with 21 goals. In total, 11 different players have scored a goal this season, eclipsing last season's mark of nine.

Barrett between the posts has accumulated 45 saves on the year for a .437 save percentage and a 10.61 goals-against average.

SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE (1-7)
The Blue Devils currently sit at 1-7 on the season and are on a four-game skid after falling 15-3 to Hofstra. Megan Szawlowski has 20 points on the season from 16 goals and four assists to lead the way offensively for her squad. Morgan Sinton follows with 19 points from 13 goals and six assists. In total, 12 different Blue Devils have scored a goal this season. In the cage for CCSU, Jackie Branthover has played in every game logging over 372 minutes on the season. The keeper has stopped 66 shots for a .440 save percentage and a 13.55 goals-against average.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the first meeting between the two program's in the sport of women's lacrosse.

SCOUTING UMBC (7-3, 0-1)
The Retrievers fell to New Hampshire, 11-9, in their America East opener (3.24). They will host Siena for a midweek matchup before heading to Lowell. SERIES HISTORY
The Retrievers carry all three wins in the series history, including last year's matchup at UMBC with the River Hawks tallying the most goals ever against UMBC in a 7-18 loss.

BARRETT REACHES MILESTONE, EYES A SECOND
Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett stopped seven shots in the loss at Iona (3.8). Although the squad was unable to come away with their first win of the season, the four-year captain between the posts captured a different win. The South Burlington, Vt. native became the first player in program history to reach 500 saves in a career. She sits 76 away from 600, currently, and would need to average 8.4 saves per game over the final nine contests to reach the second milestone.

FINELLI'S STELLAR START
Junior Kendyl Finelli has tallied 29 points through the first eight games of the season. The midfielder has now surpassed her point total output from a season ago (24). The Southborough, Mass. native is on pace to tally a program record 62 points this season, which would be 28 more points than the current program record of 34 held by fellow teammate Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) after last season's breakout year.

SCORING STREAK
Kendyl Finelli has tallied at least a point in every game this season to give her an eight game scoring streak . If the midfielder registers a point at CCSU, she will own the program's longest scoring streak at nine games. Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) and Taylor Sokol (twice) have each tallied an eight game scoring streak.

GOING FOR GO(A)LD
Senior Taylor Sokol has led the team in goals for the entire season so far, tallying 21 goals through the first eight games of the season. The senior is now just five goals away from breaking the single-season, goal-scoring record of 25 set last season by teammate Rebecca Idson.

HATCH DOMINATES ON THE DRAW
One game after teammate Kelly Moran tied the program record for draw controls in a game with six, Erin Hatch came out victorious seven times on the draw to set a new program record. The seven draw controls also catapulted her into the team lead, which currently stands at 19.

HAT TRICK PERFORMANCES
One game after Kendyl Finelli and Hana Caster teamed up against Wagner (3.11) with each of them scoring a hat trick, Taylor Sokol, Kristina Keith and Kaylan DiModugno each tallied a hat trick in the win over Sacred Heart (3.17). It marked the eighth time in program history that two or more River Hawks have scored hat tricks in the same game, with UMass Lowell holding a slight 5-3 edge in those contests.

SCORING DEPTH
Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) scored in the win over Sacred Heart (3.17) to extend the list of River Hawks to have scored a goal this season to 11, which is two more than the final total of last season.

REACHING DOUBLE DIGITS
The River Hawks have scored at least 10 goals in 12 games since 2015 and holds a 9-3 record in those games.

DEFENSE IS THE BEST OFFENSE
Six times in the opener against Boston University, the River Hawks were able to turn caused turnovers or ground balls directly into goals for the Mill City Squad. The team broke that season high with eight instances in its win over Sacred Heart, In total, through the first five games, the River Hawks have scored directly off a caused turnover or ground ball pickup 30 times, accounting for roughly 42-percent of their goals scored this season.

WILL YOU ACCEPT THIS ROSE?
Freshman Hannah Rose (Framingham, Mass.) was tabbed the America East Rookie of the Week (3.12) for her efforts in leading the squad to a 1-1 week. Rose led all River Hawk rookies with three caused turnovers, while also picking up three ground balls on the defensive end of the field. The midfielder helped the squad pick up its first win of the season against Wagner on Sunday afternoon after tallying two ground balls and a caused turnover.
