Katie Lynes Earns NFHCA All-Region Honors

11/26/2018 12:42:00 PM

GILBERT, Ariz. – Sophomore Katie Lynes (Oakville, Ontario) was named to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-Northeast Region Second Team, as announced by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association on Monday.

"Katie had an outstanding sophomore season," said Head Coach Shannon Hlebichuk. "She was an impact player both offensively and defensively for us. She was asked to play a couple different roles for the team throughout the season and did a fantastic job. We are happy to see her contributions rewarded with this post-season honor. "

Lynes becomes just the second River Hawk to garner a Division I All-Region selection. This honor comes after she received East Division All-Conference, as well as All-Academic Team accolades from the America East earlier this month.

The midfielder started all 18 games in 2018, totaling a team-leading 1,294 minutes. She finished tied for first on the squad with three game-winning goals, and ranked third with career highs of seven total goals and 17 points. She logged a season-high three points in a win at Colgate on October 7.

This year, 160 Division I student-athletes were named to Division I All-Region teams. Lynes was one of 11 honorees from the East Division of the America East Conference.
