ALBANY, N.Y. –
The UMass Lowell field hockey team begins its longest road swing of the season this week, opening the trip at No. 24 UAlbany on Friday, October 5 at 3 p.m. before heading to Colgate for a 1 p.m. tilt on Sunday, Oct. 7.

River Hawk Rewind
UMass Lowell split a pair of America East decisions last week to move to 6-4 overall on the year and 1-2 in America East action. The squad first faced a tough, 1-0 setback at Vermont on September 28 before bouncing back with a 3-1 victory against New Hampshire on Sept. 30. Junior Anouk Lalande (Brussels, Belgium) scored twice to help propel the River Hawks to just their second win ever against UNH.

Leading the Flock
Through 10 games, senior Torrie Huk (Milford, Del.) paces the River Hawks with 21 points. Anouk Lalande, who follows with 20 points, boasts a team-best nine goals. Freshman Jenna Berger (Waterloo, Ontario) and sophomore Clara Defourt (Brussels, Belgium) are tied for the team lead with five assists. Eva Berkhout owns the 6-4 record in the cage, totaling 48 saves and an .800 save percentage.

Scouting No. 24 UAlbany
The Great Danes are 7-3 so far this season, including a 1-1 mark in America East games. Last week, UAlbany defeated Holy Cross, 7-1, on Sept. 25 before falling, 2-1, in double overtime at No. 18 Maine on Sept. 30. Dana Bozek leads the team with eight goals and 16 points, while Ghislaine Beerkens adds 15 points of her own. Katie MacCallum and Viol Von der Muhlen pace the squad with three assists each. In the cage, Melissa Nealon has made 35 saves for an .833 save percentage.

Scouting Colgate
The Raiders are 2-9 right now, but will host Lafayette on Oct. 6 before welcoming UMass Lowell on Oct. 7. The squad is in the midst of a nine-game skid, including a 4-0 loss against Holy Cross on Sept. 29. Nora Mulroy is first on the squad with three goals and six total points, while Taylor Casamassa totals a team-best two assists. Anna Unger, who has started all 11 games, has made 61 stops and has a .670 save percentage.

Series History
The Great Danes own a 12-1 advantage in the all-time series against the River Hawks, following a hard-fought, 1-0 decision in Lowell earlier this season. The series between UMass Lowell and Colgate is currently tied, 1-1, as the River Hawks earned a 3-1 win back in 2017.

Senior Success
Torrie Huk hit the ground running for her senior season and already boasts 21 points for the second time in her career. She is currently ranked 13th in the nation for points per game (2.22). Huk, who is the River Hawks' Division I leader for career goals with 35, has now moved into a tie for 11th place on the program's all-time goals list.

Spreading the Love
Including the River Hawks 5-1 win against Quinnipiac on Sept. 23, four of the team's six wins so far have featured at least three different goal scorers.

Exciting Endings
The River Hawks battled to their first overtime victory of the year on Sept. 7, taking down Columbia, 4-3, in the 87th minute. The team has built a strong résumé in extra time, and is now 6-2 in games that have gone to overtime since 2017.

National News
Eva Berkhout continues to move up the national rankings and is now seventh in the country with an .800 save percentage. As a team, the River Hawks are fourth in the nation with an .815 save percentage.

Hot Start
UMass Lowell opened 2018 with a 2-0 record for the first time since 2015. In both those games, the River Hawks were the first to score. The team is now 6-0 in 2018 (and 16-4 since 2016) when scoring first.

Stonewalling the Opposition
Goalkeeper Eva Berkhout logged her first career shutout in the 2018 opener against Bryant on Aug. 24. She then shut out Hofstra on Aug. 26 to give the team its first back-to-back clean sheets since 2012. This also marked the first time that the team opened the season with a pair of shutouts since the program's Division II National Championship run in 2010.

Weekly Awards
Jenna Berger garnered America East Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 11 thanks to her game-tying and game-winning helpers against Columbia. Torrie Huk and Eva Berkhout opened the 2018 season with America East Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week nods, respectively, on Aug. 28. Huk led the team with eight points (3g, 2a) in two games, while Berkhout made six saves in back-to-back shutouts.
