LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell field hockey team opens America East Conference action, traveling first to No. 18 UAlbany for a 2 p.m. tilt on Friday, September 29 before welcoming Maine to Wicked Blue on Sunday, October 1 for a match set to begin at 1 p.m.

River Hawk Rewind
UMass Lowell owns a 5-5 record so far in 2017 after splitting a pair of games last week. The team battled against No. 12 Stanford on Sept. 21 in a game that was tied in the 69th minute of regulation. However, a last minute goal by the Cardinal decided the game, 4-3, in favor of the visitors. On Sept. 24, the River Hawks snapped a four-game skid with a 1-0 victory against Siena.

Scouting No. 18 UAlbany
The No. 18 Great Danes sit at 4-4 so far this season, as the team enters Friday's contest following two overtime decisions last week. UAlbany first fought to a 3-2 win at No. 5 Delaware in extra time on Sept. 22 before facing a 2-1 setback against No. 7 North Carolina on Sept. 24. Katie MacCallum is leading the Great Danes with six goals and 14 total points. Frederike Helmke and Ghislaine Beerkens add seven points each, while Dana Bozek chips in with a team-best three assists. Goalkeeper Melissa Nealon has started all eight games, boasting 55 saves for a .797 save percentage.

Scouting Maine
The Black Bears are 6-3 heading into this weekend's action. The team went 1-1 last week, defeating Northeastern, 4-1, on Sept. 22 before falling, 4-1, against No. 12 Stanford. Libby Riedl (5g, 10a) and Samantha Wagg (7g, 6a) are pacing the offense with 20 points apiece, while Brianna Ricker follows 13 points. Emily Hindle has registered a team-high six assists so far, as well. Goalkeeper Emma Cochran, who owns a 1.78 goals against average, has made 23 stops for a .605 save percentage.

The River Hawks and the Great Danes will be meeting for the 11th time on Friday, as UAlbany is undefeated in the all-time series with a pair of wins in 2016. Maine owns a 9-1-1 lead in the series against UMass Lowell, including 4-2 and 3-0 decisions last season.Â

Three Cheers
The River Hawks picked up three consecutive overtime wins for the first time in program history from Sept. 1-8. All of the decisions ended in a 2-1 score, as the team defeated both Miami (Ohio) and Ball State in a single extra period before outlasting Georgetown in a hard-fought outing that went to a sudden-death shootout. The Georgetown match marked the first time the River Hawks have gone to a shootout since 2011.

Weekly Awards
Torrie Huk garnered River Hawk of the Week honors on Sept. 7 with two game-winning overtime goals.
Eva Berkhout received Defensive Player of the Week honors on Sept. 7, having boasted a 0.90 goals against average and a .867 save percentage with 13 saves in two overtime wins.
Anouk Lalande was named Offensive Player of the Week and River Hawk of the Week on Aug. 29 after leading the league with seven points in two games.
