HAMDEN, Conn. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team earned a 3-0 victory at Quinnpiac on Tuesday night at Burt Kahn Gymnasium. The set scores were 25-21, 25-20 and 25-19.
With the victory, the River Hawks improve to 4-3 overall on the year, while Quinnipiac drops to 5-4 early on in the season. UMass Lowell has already matched its win total from each of the last two seasons.
"It was a great match, Quinnipiac is having a great season and once we got on game plan, we played a good team very well," said Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "I think it was our best night as far as blocking and serving goes, we talked about how important it was going to be and the ladies put forth a great effort."
Freshman
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) paced the River Hawks' offense with a match-high 13 kills, a .391 hitting percentage and four total blocks. Sophomore outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) notched 12 kills, a. 348 hitting percentage, five digs and four total blocks in a solid all-around effort.

Delaney Mendez (Phoenix, Ariz.) recorded 27 assists running the UMass Lowell offense, while sophomore libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) tallied 10 digs in another strong defensive effort.
UMass Lowell totaled 12 kills or more kills in every set, including a .269 hitting percentage in the second set. The River Hawks stormed back in set two scoring six straight points, as they were down 14-11 and then took the lead at 16-14 on the strong serving by Bell.
The River Hawks return to action on Friday, September 9th for their home opener against Fairleigh Dickinson. Match time is 7 p.m. from Costello Athletic Center.
